Salasya outlines plans for Harambee Stars if elected president
By Mabonga Makhanu, August 11, 2025Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has unveiled his plans for the national football team, Harambee Stars, should he be elected president in 2027.
In a statement posted on his social media pages on Monday, August 11, 2025, Salasya outlined a detailed roadmap aimed at improving the welfare of players and strengthening the team’s performance. His proposal includes granting all Harambee Stars players binding contracts that guarantee retirement benefits with a minimum of Ksh70,000 per month for life, alongside comprehensive medical benefits.
Under his plan, players’ starting salaries would be set at Ksh450,000, supplemented by sponsorship deals from companies. Salasya expressed confidence that his leadership would spur the growth of manufacturing industries in Kenya, which in turn would increase opportunities for corporate sponsorship of the national team.
“I win the 2027 presidential election. All Harambee Stars players will be entitled to a binding contract with retirement benefits of at least 70k a month for their lifetime and medical benefits. The salary will be 450k for the start, plus additional sponsorship from companies because, in my leadership, many manufacturing companies will arise,” Salasya stated.
With him being embraced by how the man between the sticks in Harambee Stars faced off with Morocco’s performance, Bryne Omondi recalled the days of renowned goalkeeper Francis Onyiso and former coach Reinhard Fabisch, as he expressed optimism that such a welfare-driven approach could restore the glory days of Kenyan football.

His Promises to Goalkeeper
Earlier on, Salasya had promised to pay three months’ rent for Harambee stars goalkeeper for his exceptional expertise in the match against Morocco

Salasya praised the goalkeeper for his composure and skill, stating that the rent payment would depend on the player’s current monthly rate.
Salasya explained that if the goalkeeper’s rent is Ksh20,000 per month, he will pay Ksh60,000 for three months; if it is Ksh30,000, he will pay Ksh90,000; if it is Ksh40,000, he will pay Ksh120,000; and if it is Ksh50,000, he will pay Ksh150,000.
According to Salasya, his offer will not be extended to each player but the goalkeeper, emphasising that the others should rely on the Ksh1 million packs promised to each player by the House.
