Salasya offers to pay 3-month rent for Harambee Stars keeper
By Mabonga Makhanu, August 11, 2025Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has promised to pay three months’ rent for Bryne Omondi, who was between the sticks in the match between Harambee Stars and Morocco.
In a statement posted on his social media platforms on Monday, August 11, 2025, Salasya praised the goalkeeper for his composure and skill, stating that the rent payment would depend on the player’s current monthly rate.
Salasya explained that if the goalkeeper’s rent is Ksh20,000 per month, he will pay Ksh60,000 for three months; if it is Ksh30,000, he will pay Ksh90,000; if it is Ksh40,000, he will pay Ksh120,000; and if it is Ksh50,000, he will pay Ksh150,000.
According to Salasya, his offer will not be extended to each player but the goalkeeper, emphasising that the others should rely on the Ksh1 million packs promised to each player by the House.

He described the player as his Man of the Match and called on Kenyans to congratulate him for his outstanding performance for Harambee Stars. Salasya noted that while others may choose to celebrate the whole team in different ways, his focus will be on rewarding the goalkeeper directly by covering his rent.
“Am buying this for the 17th Kenya vs Zambia, wekelea Kenya 4 Zambia 2. I will reward the harambee stars goal keeper by paying for his house rent for three months kama house rent yake ni 20k per month it’s 60k 30k its 90k kama ni 40k its 120k kama ni 50k it’s 150k .He is my man of the match. Very composed and knows his work. Let us congratulate Harambee Stars goalkeeper Hawa Wengine Watakula ya State House Mimi na goalkeeper rent tu pekee.” Salasya stated.

Bryne was the man of the match, where Harambee Stars pulled a gutsy performance to silence the North African giants Morocco through Ryan Ogam’s first-half strike. His outstanding saves proved enough for Benni McCarthy’s charges, who climbed to the apex of GROUP A with seven points.
Ruto’s pledges
This comes moments after President William Ruto announced that if the team beats Zambia in their next match on Sunday, each player will receive Ksh2.5 million.

This announcement comes after a series of generous rewards the team has already earned for their impressive performances. So far, the Harambee Stars have received Ksh1 million each for their win against DR Congo, Ksh500,000 each after a draw with Angola, and another Ksh1 million per player following their recent 1-0 victory over Morocco.
