Salasya laments loss of wristwatch to thief while cheering Harambee Stars
By Mustafa Juma, August 8, 2025Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has narrated how he lost his wristwatch to an unidentified thief while cheering Harambee Stars against Angola in a Thursday, August 7, 2025, African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group A clash at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, that ended in a hard-fought draw.
In a light-hearted yet frustrated post shared via his official social media accounts on the night of Thursday, August 7, 2025, Salasya said the incident happened in the heat of the celebrations, when a pickpocket managed to snatch his watch right from his wrist.
“Mwizi ameniibia saa yangu mwa mkono nikishangilia Harambee Stars. Wewe mwizi, wewe ni mjinga sana. Next time nitauma na meno hiyo mkono yako ukileta mkono,” Salasya remarked, warning the culprit in a humorous tone.

Harambee Stars’ next match
Despite the incident, Salasya has promised an unusual form of support for Harambee Stars in their upcoming Group A match against Morocco, which will be staged on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
This follows the team’s spirited 1-1 draw against Angola on Thursday, August 7, 2025, despite being reduced to 10 men early in the game.
Taking to his official social media accounts after the Harambee Stars’ clash with Angola, Salasya praised their performance and expressed his excitement for the upcoming match against Morocco.
“Aki sauti imechoka, but that was a win for the Harambee Stars. My prediction was to win, but red card messed us ndio tukapata draw,” he stated.
The vocal MP, known for his dramatic flair, added that while he is not generally a football fan, he considers himself “fan number 001” of Harambee Stars and promised to go shirtless during the national team’s next match to show his support, arguing that the temperatures will be too high for him.
“Sunday the temperatures will be too high for me; nitatoa shati just to cheer the Harambee Stars because I am not a fan of football but harambee stars am fun number 001,” Salasya wrote on X.
