Sacked CEC takes Nyaribo to court

Nyamira county executive member for Health has moved to court seeking his reinstatement.

Dr Timothy Ombati was sacked last week over claims that drugs meant for various hospitals had not been delivered.

In his court papers, Dr Ombati maintains that his dismissal was unlawful. He has named Governor Amos Nyaribo as the first respondent in the matter at the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Kisumu.

Ombati, through his lawyer, Danstan Omari, told the Court that he did not committed any mistake to warrant his dismissal, claiming that he has enjoyed “cordial relations” with his boss all along.

Ombati further argues that the governor failed to adhere to the law of natural justice. The matter was filed under a certificate of urgency before Justice Christine Baari.

Meanwhile. The County Government of Uasin Gishu has embarked on an ambitious initiative to digitise its financial operations in a bid to bolster revenue collection, inject efficiency into its operations and promote the management of funds.

Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration through the ‘Nguzo number three’ to raise revenue, is in the process of ensuring that financial collection operations are made cashless for the management of resources.

Through the ‘Sisibo Pay App’, the devolved unit is in the process of working towards adopting an entirely cashless system.

Speaking on during the training of the county staff on the new revenue collection system at the county headquarters yesterday, Bii reiterated that he is keen on digitising systems for both efficiency and proper management of public resources.
