Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has expressed concern over the recommendations made by the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) regarding the cost of living, stating that it indicates an incorrigible state for the country.
Caleb Amisi reactions
The NDC released a report on Saturday night, proposing several measures to address the cost of living challenges.
The recommendations included a 50% reduction in travel budgets for all arms of government, a 30% reduction in daily subsistence allowances for state and public officers as reviewed by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, a decrease in road maintenance, and a reduction in the anti-adulteration levy by Ksh 5 and Ksh 3 per litre, respectively. The committee suggested transferring all devolved functions to counties.
In response to these recommendations, Amisi expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the proposals suggest the country cannot be reformed.
He believes that the report has been formulated merely to appease leaders without addressing the needs of the Kenyan people, leaving them to fend for themselves.
Amisi issued a warning to Kenyans against waiting for miracles and encouraged them to take action to challenge the entrenched and unyielding status quo.

He spoke of the need for citizens to stand up and disrupt the prevailing conditions.
“If these are the proposals coming out of the national dialogue committee sitting for ninety days, on a reduction in the existential high cost of living, then this country is incorrigible for sure. As much as we demanded the cost of living to feature highly in the reports, we never envisaged a haphazardly organized phrase to satisfy our appetite. Kenyans are officially on their own. Wait for miracles at your own peril. We must disturb the stubborn status quo,” he said on his X account.
The committee was chaired by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.
