President William Ruto has reiterated his commitment to moving Kenya into a first-world country and that the government is working towards laying a strong foundation towards achieving this goal.

Speaking at the State House in Nairobi on Monday, January 26, 2026, while chairing the United Democratic Alliance National Governing Council meeting, Ruto has challenged the opposition to present their scorecard and tell the nation what plan they have for bettering the lives of Kenyans, were they to be elected

“Our commitment to moving Kenya to a first-world economy is on a solid foundation. We challenge our competition to present their scorecard and disclose to Kenyans what better plan they have in making our country better, “said Ruto.

During the delegates’ meeting, Ruto said that the government programs in place and being implemented in line with the manifesto that the UDA party gave during the campaign period.

“In the 2022 UDA manifesto, we made a commitment to the people of Kenya to transform our country and their lives by investing in agriculture, making affordable credit accessible, creating millions of jobs, and implementing universal healthcare, among others,” Ruto added.

The president has disputed the naysayers, saying that the project in place by his administration, including the universal health coverage, affordable housing, and other infrastructural projects have proved to be working.

Oppositions take

However, the United Opposition has opposed these projects, terming them not viable and misplaced.

Ruto’s sentiments come at a time when the united opposition side and leaders opposed to the government side have been disputing his statement about taking Kenya’s economy to the level of Singapore. A country known to have an economic muscle with rapid growth.
