President William Ruto has termed the events of the Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests as treasonous.
In a night address at State House Nairobi, Ruto sent a warning on the protesters, saying the otherwise law-abiding citizens exercising their constitutional right had been hijacked by a group of ‘organised criminals.’
He stated that the State has mobilised all resources available at its disposal to ensure the events do not recur in the future.
Ruto added that the government will separate criminals from peaceful protesters and that the planners, financiers, abettors and orchestrators of the events that saw the Parliament and Senate houses infiltrated will be dealt with.
Ruto vowed to secure the nation at all costs, saying that every threat to national security would be treated as an existential danger.
