Ruto receives credentials from 2 newly appointed ambassadors and a high commissioner

In his welcoming statement, during the ceremony held at the State House, Nairobi, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, President Ruto congratulated the designated ambassadors and high commissioner for their appointment and welcomed them to Kenya.
Ruto said that this was a crucial step in strengthening the bilateral relations between Kenya and the countries they represent, expressing his willingness to work together with them for the prosperity of Kenya and the countries they represent.
“I, William Samoei Ruto, do accept your letters of credence and authorise you to pursue the interests of your government within the territory of Kenya by fostering the bond of friendship and promoting to the widest possible extent within the law the aspirations of the peoples of our nations,” Ruto said.
“Ambassador, congratulations on your appointment; welcome to Kenya, and I look forward to working with you,” Ruto added.
Designates accepts appointment to Kenya
In acceptance of the roles bestowed on them, the ambassadors and high commissioner expressed their gratitude for their appointment and thanked President Ruto for the warm welcome. The appointed designates also highlighted the commitment of their countries to continue working with Kenya.
Among those who presented their credentials are Rulan Samara, the ambassador designate to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Saad Abdullah Al Nofe, ambassador designate to the Republic of Saudi Arabia; and Jacinto Maguni, the high commissioner to the Republic of Mozambique.
It is tradition that the letter of credence is presented to the president before any envoy begins their tenure of office, officially.
The letter of credence is presented personally by the ambassador-designate to the receiving head of state, in this case, William Ruto, in a formal ceremony, marking the beginning of the ambassador’s role and allowing them to engage in diplomatic and economic activities.
