Ruto leads cabinet meeting, receives briefing on upcoming budget statement

President William Ruto on Thursday led a recent cabinet meeting as he was briefed on the eagerly anticipated budget statement set to be presented on June 13, 2024. 

The meeting played a crucial opportunity for Ruto to gather insights and updates on the upcoming financial plans that will impact the nation.

“Chaired a Cabinet meeting that was briefed on the Budget Statement that will be read in the National Assembly later today,” Ruto’s statement read in part.

Ruto reiterated that managing the country’s financial and economic affairs was on his top agenda and that the correct legal processes had already been established.

“The financial and economic management of the affairs of our country is our top agenda. The policies, and legal and economic measures we are taking are the necessary foundation for the transformation of Kenya,” Ruto noted.

Budget for fiscal year 2024/25

As part of the government’s priorities and strategies for the fiscal year, Ruto’s cabinet meeting discussed critical sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and economic development.

During the session the Cabinet defended the budget for the Financial Year 2024/25 saying it is designed to accelerate the implementation of President William Ruto’s blueprint; the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). 

“The budget further positions the economy for export-led growth while allocating additional resources to facilitate production and completion of ongoing infrastructure projects,” the dispatch reads.

In addition, the cabinet noted that the budget prioritizes devolution and equity as part of the Administration’s commitment.
