President William Ruto on Friday, April 28, 2023, launched the construction of 65-kilometre road in Kajiado County.

The road snakes through Ongata Rongai-Gataka-Embulbul, Cooperative College Karen-Matasia- Nkoroi-Ongata Rongai-Nazarene University-Rimpa &JN (C58)-Lewisa Academy-Kahara Market Road.

“The project roads are located in Kajiado County with links totaling to 65 Km long. The road stalled because the former regime failed to settle pending bills owed to the contractors totaling Ksh3.9 billion.

“Upon completion, these link roads will decongest Magadi road from Galleria Shopping Center to Rongai and Ngong road from Karen to Ngong town; open up the areas for business and investment, boost security in the area, and improve access to markets, schools, hospitals, and other facilities,” State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said in a tweet.

Speaking during the launch, the President said Rongai has a huge potential of being a city.

“That is why we are deliberately expanding, modernising and upgrading its urban road network besides fixing the sewerage lines to sustainably cater for the growing population besides checking traffic congestion in the town,” he said.
