President William Ruto yesterday hosted American businessman Bill Gates for talks at State House in Nairobi.

During the meeting, the President indicated that he was seeking to collaborate with the Microsoft founder on accessible healthcare through the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.

 He added that he was also keen on collaborating with the billionaire on addressing food security in the country.

 “We will continue to collaborate towards the realisation of food security and universal health coverage in our country,” he stated.The Head of State thanked Gates for various investments he had made in the country noting the transformations they were making in the lives of Kenyans.  “We appreciate the support the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to extend to Kenya in realising our development goals, especially in the areas of healthcare, agriculture and ICT sectors,” Ruto stated.

 During the Wednesday meeting, Ruto led the Kenyan delegation which comprised Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u, Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, and Agriculture’s Mithika Linturi among others.

Bill Gates arrived in Kenya on Tuesday for a series of engagements and kicked off his visit in Makueni County where he met Governor Mutula Kilonzo.

 Today, he is set to engage with University of Nairobi (UoN) students on climate change.
