Ruto calls for peace and unity as Kenyans celebrate Eid al-Fitr

By , March 20, 2026

President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to embrace peace and unity in a heartfelt message to Muslims as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

In a statement on his official X account on Friday, March 20, 2026, Ruto joined Muslims in marking the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan, a period dedicated to sacrifice, prayer, reflection, and charity.

On his part, the Head of State called on Kenyans to embrace the values of faith, unity, and gratitude, which the festival embodies.

“We join the Muslim community in celebrating Eid al-Fitr following the sacred month of Ramadan, a time of sacrifice, devotion, prayer, charity, and reflection. May all acts of worship be accepted, hearts renewed and strengthened, and the spirit of faith continue to guide our nation and us,” Ruto said.

He further urged the importance of remembering the less fortunate and sharing kindness so all may partake in Eid blessings.

“Eid is a celebration of these virtues: faith, unity, and gratitude. As we rejoice, let us remember the less fortunate and share kindness so all may partake in its blessings. May this occasion bring peace to our hearts, harmony to our communities, and renewed hope for our nation. Eid Mubarak,” Ruto added.

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen made the declaration through a gazette notice on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, evening.
