Ruto attends burial of Igembe North MP Julius Taitumu’s father
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, July 11, 2026President William Ruto has joined family, leaders and residents in Meru County for the burial of Patrick M’Anaiba Baikilanya, the father of Igembe North MP Julius Taitumu M’Anaiba.
The burial ceremony, which is being held in Igembe North constituency in Meru County on Saturday, July 11, 2026, has brought together political leaders, relatives, friends and mourners who gathered to pay their final respects to the late patriarch.
MP announced father’s death last week
“It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my beloved Dad, Mzee Patrick M’Anaiba Baikilanya, which occurred this morning,” the MP said at the time.
He described his father as a man whose life was defined by integrity, humility and faith, adding that he had been a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom to the family.
“He was a loving father, a pillar of strength, and a source of wisdom whose legacy of integrity, humility, and faith will forever remain in our hearts,” M’Anaiba said.

Family thanked Kenyans for support
On behalf of the Baikilanya family, the legislator expressed gratitude to friends, relatives and members of the public who offered prayers and messages of condolence following the loss.
“On behalf of the Baikilanya family, I sincerely thank everyone for your prayers and messages of comfort. We thank God for the gift of his life and the legacy he leaves behind,” he said.

The MP concluded his tribute by praying for his father’s eternal rest, saying, “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
Mzee Patrick Baikilanya is being laid to rest in Meru County in a ceremony attended by President Ruto and other leaders who joined the family in mourning and celebrating his life.
