Ruto acts to stave off Baringo Woman Rep fallout

By , February 28, 2022

Deputy President William Ruto has moved to forestall a fallout in the Baringo County Woman Rep race ahead of his UDA party primaries slated for April.

A row has been simmering in the county following complaints by some aspirants the party had endorsed East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Florence Jematia as its preferred candidate.

People Daily has established that the DP met Baringo Woman Rep UDA aspirants: Susan Chesiyna, Rebecca Lomong and Nancy Chesire at his Karen home  Friday.

“We will give all aspirants a level playing field to sell their political agenda to the people,” the DP is said to have assured the aspirants.

Ms Chesiyna yesterday acknowledged the meeting was just meant to quell simmering political jitters and tension as a result of alleged endorsement of Ms Jematia by a section of UDA leaders.

“The DP was categorical that UDA primaries will be free and fair,” Chesiyna told People Daily.  There have been political jitters in the county after majority of leaders who accompanied the DP during his recent tour of Baringo County recently openly endorsed Ms Jematia for the seat, which has irked other aspirants.
