The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has issued a caution to motorists using the Kisima-Wamba Road (B120) in Samburu County.
KeNHA warns of dangerous conditions caused by overtopping at the Seiya Vented Drift, also known as the Seiya Bridge.
Seiya bridge users
In a statement, KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u urged road users to avoid crossing the bridge, emphasizing that it is unsafe. He advised motorists to wait until the water recedes before attempting to cross.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority would like to inform all motorists plying the Kisima-Wamba (B120) Road in Samburu County of overtopping at the Seiya Vented Drift, locally known as Seiya Bridge,” the statement read. “KeNHA cautioned
Ndung’u also encouraged the public to exercise patience and wait for water to go down before crossing
“Members of the public are advised to be patient until the water levels recede. The Authority remains committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage of goods and services for economic prosperity. At KeNHA, your safety is our utmost priority.”
In addition to issuing the safety warning, KeNHA, led by its Corridor B Management team, undertook a public awareness campaign focused on road reserve protection and road safety.
The initiative aimed to deter encroachment and promote safe practices across a select network of locations, including Magumu Flyover, Barnabas, Ngata, Salgaa, Mau Summit, Ndengelwa, Kandui, Webuye, and Malaba.
The week-long campaign engaged local leaders, county representatives, traffic officers, and community members in a series of educational sessions.
KeNHA efforts
This effort comes after the KENHA North Rift Survey Department, in collaboration with the Inspectorate and Axle Load Enforcement and Highway Unit (ALEHU), issued quit notices to individuals encroaching upon the road reserve along the Eldoret-Nyaru (B124) Road.
KeNHA’s ongoing efforts to maintain road safety and protect road reserves are part of the authority’s broader mission to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people, goods, and services throughout Kenya.
