Revival of five sugar millers in focus as conference kicks off

By , September 7, 2023

All roads lead to Kakamega county ahead of the Sugar Sector Stakeholders Conference slated for tomorrow  and Saturday.

Leaders from all the counties in the Lake region are expected at the conference to be held at Masinde Muliro University.

The conference seeks to unlock challenges facing the sugar industry with main focus on revival of five State-owned millers in the region.

It is a beehive of activity in the entire sugar belt that stretches from Kericho all the way to Busia as members of the National Assembly’s Finance and Planning committee together with their Agriculture committee counterparts are currently camping in the region for stakeholder engagements.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa said yesterday that plans for the conference had been concluded.
