The remains of Emurua Dikirr MP Hon. Johana Ng’eno and four others who died in a helicopter crash have arrived in Emurua Dikirr for a joint requiem service.

Authorities airlifted the bodies of Robert Keter, Amos Rotich, Wycliffe Rono, and Nicholas Kosgei to Emurua Dikirr Primary School on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The National Assembly shared photos of the caskets as they landed, showing a solemn handover to family and community members.

The six men perished on February 28, 2026, when their helicopter crashed in Chepkieb Forest, Mosop Sub-County, Nandi County. The crash claimed all on board, including the pilot, retired Lt Col George Were. Ng’eno, a third-term legislator known for his strong voice on land rights, community justice, and Kalenjin culture, travelled with George Were, Nick Koskei, Carlos Keter, Amos Kipngetich Rotich, and Wycliffe Rono.

Emotional tributes at requiem

Parliament first airlifted the remains from Eldoret to Nairobi’s Lee Funeral Home. A joint requiem mass took place on March 4 at Africa Gospel Church in Karen, Nairobi. Mourners filled the church as leaders paid tribute to the victims.

Ng’eno’s widow, Naiyanoi Ntutu, spoke with deep emotion during the Nairobi service. She said, “Even death cannot take what we built.” She added, “Rest gentle my love. You are forever part of me.”

Speaker Moses Wetang’ula described him as a fierce leader who defended his people with dedication. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki sent prayers to the families.

After the Emurua Dikirr requiem, the remains will move to their homes for burial. The tragedy has united leaders and residents in grief. People remember Hon. Ng’eno as a bold advocate who worked hard for Emurua Dikirr’s progress. Families now prepare to say final goodbyes amid heavy sorrow.
