Reject Ruto in 2027 elections, urges Kalonzo

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAPK) counterpart Eugene Wamalwa yesterday asked Kenyans to rise up, sacrifice and resist Kenya Kwanza government’s policies of punitive taxes by voting out president William Ruto come 2027.

Kalonzo, while speaking in Nyamira county accused Ruto of mismanaging the economy for the one and half years he has been in power, adding that re-electing him for another five years would lead the country into an economic crisis of unimaginable proportions.

He gave an example of the former Liberia president George Weah who ruined the country’s economy, prompting the voters to reject his bid to serve for a second term.

The one-time Vice President urged Kenyans to emulate Liberians and send Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza government packing come 2027.

He maintained that the Ruto government had reduced Kenyans to beggars through punitive taxation, a trend he said should be resisted if Kenyans have to rise from the economic challenges they are currently facing.

Kalonzo accused Ruto of riding to power on the strength of false promises targeting the lowly in society like the boda boda riders and the mama mboga that he could make their lives better only to slap them with punitive taxes when he won the election. “I am asking Kenyans to rise up and protect our country from being destroyed through the punitive taxes imposed on them by president Ruto,” he stated.

Kalonzo was in Nyamira town to open the Wiper party office.

Forceful taxes

Wamalwa on his part wondered why the government could not pay the doctors the Sh4 billion they were demanding but it could afford to put aside money for the employment of Chief Administrative Secretaries.

He said that the Azimio leadership will use the courts to stop Ruto’s punitive and forceful taxes against the poor Kenyans.

“When the former president Uhuru Kenyatta was in power, the cost of fuel per litre was Sh159 but when Ruto came to power, it has shot up to Sh199,” he told the gathering in Nyamira town.

They were accompanied by former Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, senators Agnes Kivindu (Machakos), Enock Wambua (Kitui) and MPs Julius Mawathe (Embakasi South), Stephen Mule (Matungulu) and Irene Kasalu (Kitui woman representative).
