Registrar of Political Parties pushes for pre-election dialogue

The office of the register of political parties has called upon the political parties to conduct a national dialogue ahead of the 2027 general elections in order to ensure the country will have a peaceful and credible election.

Speaking will address Members of Parliament at a retreat in Naivasha on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, The registrar of political parties, John Lorionokou, has called on the political parties to hold dialogues ahead of the general elections to discuss and agree on how to conduct the elections peacefully.

He has called for collaborative activities to secure a peaceful election.

“One of my dreams is that the political parties will have a national dialogue on how they want to look at this animal called the general elections, which has presented itself in many forms. We have one country, if it stands it stands for all, if it sinks it sinks for all. I ask the Secretary Generals of all the political parties to converse and agree on how to have a peaceful general election. We all have a responsibility as parties, citizens and as a country to uphold credible elections for the sake of our country,” Lorionokou stated.

Monitoring campaigns

The registrar also enlightened the Members of Parliament on the roles of the office of the registrar of political parties, noting that the office has a mandate to monitor the campaigns and the by-elections, as well as the general elections.

In this view, the registrar of political parties called on political parties to coexist peacefully, irrespective of their size and magnitude.

The sentiments from the registrar op political parties have come at a time when political parties in the countries are warming up in preparation for the upcoming general elections.

Political alignment and coalition have started to form, with politicians and political parties breaking and others forming in alignment for the 2027 general elections. The registrar has called for a peaceful transition ahead of the elections for posterity.

Members of Parliament are on a five-day retreat aimed at equipping them with ways to have a smooth transition.
