Gor Mahia’s woes persisted yesterday after they threw away a 1-0 lead to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw against hosts Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium yesterday afternoon with Austin Odhiambo netting his first goal for the club through a first half penalty.

This was the third time in a row that the record league champions went without a win.

The tie meant that K’Ogalo are stuck at seventh spot on 18 points but with a match in hand as the sugar men are still languishing at 16th position on eight points after 12 matches played.

Gor had lost the two subsequent matches against Kakamega Homeboyz FC and Nairobi City Stars; a worrying trend for the club which is facing internal challenges.

Yesterday they were without head coach Mark Harrison who is away in England on a medical leave.

They also missed the services of four key players Ernest Wendo, Peter Oudu, Jules Ulimwengu and Benson Omalla.

The feat meant that Nzoia became the first team in consecutive years to pick seven points against K’Ogalo after last season they won both legs.

Meanwhile, Wazito FC lost their second consecutive watch after being hammered 4-1 by a rampant Posta Rangers side at the Kasarani Stadium, leaving coach Francis Kimanzi in danger.

A brace by Caleb Olilo in the 13th and 71st minute and a Joshua Nyatini effort in the 16th minute and Calvin Ochieng’s 74th minute were enough to do damage to the moneybags whose consolation goal was through Ellie Asieche in the 21st minute.

Wazito are now placed in the danger zone with seven points from 12 matches with only two wins this season so far.

The mailmen under the tutelage of Stanley Okumbi have now leaped one position up to eighth with 18 points off 11 matches.

Elsewhere, at the Nyayo Stadium, AFC Leopards earned their third win of the campaign following a well deserved 1-0 win against Nairobi City Stars courtesy of Maxwell Otieno’s 49th min goal.

Ingwe are still stuck in 14th place but now on 13 points off 12 matches played. City Stars, who stunned Gor Mahia 2-0 last week, are fifth with 20 points off the same number of matches.

Coach Patrick Aussems of Ingwe was happy with the performance as they look ahead to their upcoming duel with Nzoia FC.

“It was tight but overall I am happy we won.

It is a good thing that we have begun the year well and I know we can improve going onwards.
