Raila’s plot to tame Sacred Alliance ahead of 2022 polls
ODM leader Raila Odinga is said to be cobbling up a new team to counter the One Kenya Movement (OKM) comprising his rivals who are leaders of key political parties.
Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) are coalescing under the OKM as they try to severe links with their political friend turned- foe Raila.
And buoyed by the recent wins in the Matungu, Kabuchai and Machakos mini polls, the quartet is racing against time to cement their new found relationship aimed at fighting Deputy President William Ruto and Raila in the 2022 polls.
However, Raila is now scheming to tame the new alliance, by bringing on board governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui) from Ukambani to checkmate Kalonzo, also to be propped are leaders from western Kenya and Coast.
A source has intimated toPeople Daily that Ngilu hosted her Machakos counterpart Mutua, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Raila’s ardent ally Junet Mohammed at her residence in Nairobi for talks on March 9.
“We had a virtual meeting. We have had many meetings,” said the source who attended the meeting but sought anonymity.
People Daily has also established that there was another scheduled meeting between Raila and Ngilu yesterday but it did not take place.
However, sources disclosed that prior to Raila’s Coastal tour, three Cabinet Secretaries two from Mt Kenya region, a governor from Coast and one from Western met in Nairobi in a scheme to isolate Raila.
But immediately after the Coastal tour, Raila fell ill and was admitted at Nairobi Hospital where he tested positive for Covid-19.
Asked about formation of alliances, ODM chairman John Mbadi said that any person talking about an alliance are expressing personal opinions.
