Raila shares details of meeting with CS Mbadi

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has disclosed details of his meeting with Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) John Mbadi and Principal Secretary (PS) Chris Kiptoo during his visit at the ministry on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Issuing a statement after the visit, Raila noted that the CS has hosted him for a working tour day where the ministry kept him to speed with the outlook of the national economy against the global and regional economies.
He equally shared that they discussed measures being undertaken to revive the country’s economy.

“The cabinet secretary and principal secretary at the ministry of Treasury and National Planning hosted me for a working tour today.
“They have given me an outlook of the National Economy against the global and regional economies – in addition to steps being taken to put our economy on a stronger recovery path,” he said.

Additionally, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader shared that he encouraged the ministry to listen to Kenyans’ calls for relief on taxation by diversifying revenue collection and undertaking better management of the ballooning debt.

“I have encouraged them to listen to Kenyans cry for relief on taxation, increase and diversify revenue collection, and undertake better management of Kenya’s national debt,” Raila added.

The latest meeting with the treasury comes after he met Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe at his office.
During the meeting CS Kagwe updated the former premier on farm and agricultural reforms and food security.
The ODM leader added that they spoke into detail on mechanizations to undertake to boost Kenya’s agriculture in the global market.
“CS Mutahi Kagwe stopped by to bring me up to speed on farm and agricultural reforms and food security. We must undertake mechanisation and value addition to our produce to make them competitive in the region,” Raila wrote after the meeting on Monday, May 12, 2025.
