Raila meets murkomen in latest meeting with CSs

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday, May 16, 2025, paid a visit to Orange Democratic (ODM) leader Raila Odinga at his offices.
Though the details of the meeting remain unknown, both figures confirmed the meeting via their social media pages.
Taking to social media, Raila hailed his long-standing friendship with the Interior CS.
“Cabinet Secretary for Interior Affairs Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen stopped by to see me today. Waziri has been a long-time friend for many years,“ part of the statement from Raila’s Facebook page stated after the meeting.
On his part, Murkomen expressed his pleasure at catching up with the politician and tapping his knowledge.

“This afternoon, I paid a courtesy call on my friend, the former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. Always a great pleasure to catch up with Baba and draw from his fountain of wisdom,” a statement from the CS on X read.
The visit by the Interior CS is the latest of Raila’s meetings with high-profile government officials under the broad-based government systsem.
Murkomen’s meeting comes a day after the former Prime Minister was hosted by Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) John Mbadi and Principal Secretary (PS) Chris Kiptoo on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the ministry’s office.
During the meeting, Raila noted that the CS had hosted him for a working tour day where the ministry kept him up to speed with the outlook of the national economy against the global and regional economies.
Taxpayers’ concerns
He equally shared that they discussed measures being undertaken to revive the country’s economy, with Raila relaying the concerns of Kenyan taxpayers to the two officials.
“I have encouraged them to listen to Kenyans cry for relief on taxation, increase and diversify revenue collection, and undertake better management of Kenya’s national debt,” part of Raila’s statement on X after meeting with the Treasury top official read.
The meeting with Mbadi was preceded by Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe paying a courtesy call to Raila at his office on Monday, May 12, 2025.

The ODM leader revealed he was updated on farm and agricultural reforms and food security and also canvassed on mechanizations to undertake to boost Kenya’s agriculture in the global market with the CS.
”CS Mutahi Kagwe stopped by to bring me up to speed on farm and agricultural reforms and food security. We must undertake mechanisation and value addition to our produce to make them competitive in the region,” Raila stated.
