ODM leader Raila Odinga made a quiet return to his home turf, a week after he lost the presidential race to rival, immediate former Deputy President William Ruto.

Raila flew to the lake side city of Kisumu after 5pm on Monday and went straight to a meeting with selected local leaders.

He was flanked by Kisumu governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o, his deputy Mathews Owili and Woman Rep Ruth Odinga.

Raila also met a section of MCAs and whipped them to support former Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro, who was re-elected yesterday.

Yesterday morning, Raila was held up at his Riat home meeting a group of investors. Sources said some foreign investors had met him with plans to revive the Kisumu Molasses plant. The plant has not been in operation for  more than 10 years now. Reports leaked that the new investors want to lease the plant, which has been lying idle and turn it into a profitable venture.

Further, grapevine had it that the investors were mulling diversifying from its core business to other manufacturing products to create more wealth and employment for the locals.
