‘Raila is a project’ – Ruto insists
By evans.maritim, January 29, 2022Deputy President William Ruto has for the first time told President Uhuru Kenyatta to not ‘impose’ a Raila Odinga project on Kenyans.
Ruto, who spoke in Kirinyaga County on Saturday, said Raila was a ‘conman’ (mtapeli).
“I want to tell my friend Uhuru that a Raila project will fail. He is a conman who cannot be trusted.
“He was in Cord and he destroyed it, he was in NASA and he destroyed it. He has also destroyed Jubilee government,” Ruto said.
Ruto further said he has always voted for Uhuru.
“I have always supported my friend Uhuru. I first voted for him in 2002. Every time he has vied, I have voted for him.
“He is my friend and we all love him, but we cannot allow him to bring us a project called Raila,” he said.
Ruto fell out with Uhuru for unknown reasons.
One week ago, Uhuru was reported to have said he will tell Kenyans what broke their good relationship with his deputy.
Ruto on the other hand has always remained defensive, insisting that their friendship with the President is still intact but they may have just deferred politically.
Raila has since launched his Azimio La Umoja Movement which he will use to try to capture presidency in the August 9 general election.
Uhuru’s Jubilee Party is his main partner in the movement.
