Quack doctor James Mugo Ndichu yesterday took to the stand to defend himself against rape allegations and operating illegal medical facility in 2015.

Mugo who was charged in 2015 with rape and eleven other counts of operating unregistered clinics, denied ever using the alias Mugo wa Wairimu to operate any medical facility and produced an unsworn statement in a bid to clear his name.

Mugo is currently serving an-11-year sentence for different charges of operating unlicensed medical facilities including Milan Health International Limited, Kayole in 2018.

In the current matter, he is accused of raping a woman at Prestige Healthcare Clinic in Githurai 44 in 2015 by allegedly administering four tablets of unknown drug to her with intention of overpowering her to engage in sexual activity among other charges.

Yesterday, he defended himself from the said crime, saying he had never met the said victim.  “I do not know the complainant, I had offered to submit myself for a DNA test, but my request was ignored,” he said yesterday. “I have never used an alias, I consider the alias an insult…I have also never supplied anything to any facility known as Prestige Healthcare and have never bought or possessed any irradiating device,” he added.

He said that the evidence adduced in court over the past seven years, was entirely false. The matter will be mentioned on October 18.
