By , February 10, 2022

State Department of Devolution Principal Secretary Julius Kiplangat Korir who is accused of assaulting his estranged wife while pregnant is facing arrest if he does not turn up in court on Monday next week.

This is after Milimani Chief Magistrate Court Susan Shitubi issued the last summons against the PS to have him appear in court on February 14 and answer to the criminal charges levelled against him by the State.

Shitubi issued the summons after his lawyer and former judge Nicolous Ombija informed the court that the PS failed to turn up in court on Thursday for plea taking since he is out of Nairobi for official duties.

The PS is accused of assaulting his former wife Everlyne Chepkorir Koech while she was pregnant occasioning her actual bodily harm.

According to a charge sheet filed in court, PS Korir is alleged to have assaulted his estranged wife on September 17, 2020 at Ndalat Road, Karen at a period when she was expecting.

Court documents show that his wife reported the assault incident to Hardy Police Station in Karen on November 20, 2018, under OB 40/20/11/2018.

Korir and Koech’s marriage is said to have cooled off a few years back, but things took a turn for the worst when claims of assault crept in 2018.

Already, Koech has filed for divorce under application E015 of 2021 against PS Korir.
