Prisons off to flying start in KVF league Kenya Cup

Back-to-back Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men’s and women’s national league defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenya Prisons laid down markers to their title rivals with perfect starts to their 2021-2022 season campaigns.


Facing Kenya Army in the first leg of the season calendar, a new league schedule divided into five-legged rounds of play staged at the Kapsabet Show Grounds in Nandi county, GSU showed class and lived up to their favourites tag with a perfect 3-0 straight-sets victory on Friday.


GSU took the first set 25- 21 before increasing their tempo to outgun the Kenyan military side 25-14, and 25-17 in the second and final set to leave coach Gideon Tarus impressed.


Kenya Prisons Women, humbled their fellow training mates and sister club Nairobi Prisons 3-0 in a 25- 19, 25-17, and 25-20 straight set.

Meanwhile, Kenya Army suffered their second defeatof the season against Western Prisons in a thrilling 3-2 5-set encounter played on Saturday.
