Post-mortem for pastor, wife as families plan separate burials
The bodies of Apostle Ann Mghoi and her husband Pastor Elisha Nandoya of the Ground for God’s Gospel 3G Ministries, are set for a post-mortem this morning as burial arrangements kick off.
The church remained shut yesterday, forcing hundreds of faithful to worship at a nearby church.
Magdalene Maghanga, the mother of Anna Mghoi said the family will lay her to rest in Mghangenyika, Taita Taveta county.
Nandoya was the owner of the church which he had founded with Mghoi at Chembani in Kisauni. He accused his wife of plotting to edge him out of the church. The couple had four children.
Maghanga said the couple had been having domestic problems prior to the January 5 incident.
“When she complained about the woes in her marriage, we advised her to stay away from her husband but the husband seemed not ready to accept it,” she said.
Kisauni police boss Julius Kiragu said the two families have agreed to separately bury the kin when they are ready after post-mortem examination scheduled for today.
The officer said detectives are still pursuing some church members mentioned in the suicide note left by Nandoya.
The church remained closed on Sunday, but the management, through chairlady Gladys Kingi, indicated that it would hand over the plot to the Nandoya family.
She, however, said they would remain in possession of music equipment which she said was bought by worshippers.
She alleged that the late Mghoi separated with her husband two years ago. “We have no problem with his plot, it belongs to him and we leave it to the family,” said Kingi.
This is as fresh details emerged Pastor Nandoya had officially transferred the church plot to his wife in an agreement signed and witnessed by Josephine Musumi, Gladys Kachanze, Peter Kibanda,Mathia Chanda,Constantine Wachenje and Damaris Kamuya.
