Police nab man with 1,858 rolls of bhang in Kwale crackdown
By Cynthia Lodite, April 2, 2026Police Officers from Diani Police Station have nabbed a man linked to at least 1,858 rolls of bhang in a raid in Mwakipeku Village, Kinondo Ward,in Kwale County.
In a statement by the National Police Service on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the officers described the operations as part of an ongoing efforts to safeguard communities from the dangers of substance abuse.
“Police officers in Kwale County have intensified operations targeting the possession and distribution of narcotic drugs as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard communities from the dangers of substance abuse,” NPS said.
“During a recent intelligence-led operation in Msambweni Sub-County, officers from Diani Police Station conducted a raid in Mwakipeku Village, Kinondo Ward, where they recovered 1,858 rolls of cannabis sativa,” NPS added.
At the time of the operation, one person was apprehended and swiftly transferred to Diani Police Station, while the recovered bhang was secured as exhibits.
“One suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody for further processing and arraignment in court, while the recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits,” NPS added.

Migori crackdown
On the other hand, the Kwale incident comes days after Police Officers from Kamagambo Police Station in Migori County nabbed one man linked to at least ninety-five rolls of bhang in Migori crackdown.
In a statement by the National Police Service, the person of interest was nabbed following a coordinated operation between the police and the NGAO team on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
“Following credible leads from members of the public, officers from Kamagambo Police Station in Migori County, in coordination with the NGAO team, yesterday undertook an operation to address suspected illegal drug activity within the Showground area of Rongo Town,” NPS said.
At the time, according to the police report, the officers raided a residence within the Showground area of Rongo Town, where officers recovered the rolls of bhang.
“A search was subsequently conducted inside a residence within the area, during which the officers recovered approximately 95 rolls of a concealed substance suspected to be cannabis sativa,” NPS added.
Police have confirmed that the person of interest was swiftly escorted to Kamagambo Police Station, where he was placed in custody pending arraignment in court.

In addition, the Police added that the operation underscores the critical role of community cooperation in combating illicit activities, reaffirming the commitment of the National Police Service to disrupting illegal drug networks, safeguarding communities, and maintaining law and order.
