Police nab man linked to 95 rolls of bhang in Migori

Police Officers from Kamagambo Police Station in Migori County, have nabbed one man linked to at least ninety-five rolls of bhang in Migori crackdown.

In a statement by the National Police Service, the person of interest was nabbed following a coordinated operation between the police and the NGAO team on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

“Following credible leads from members of the public, officers from Kamagambo Police Station in Migori County, in coordination with the NGAO team, yesterday undertook an operation to address suspected illegal drug activity within the Showground area of Rongo Town,” NPS said.

According to the police report, the officers raided a residence within the Showground area of Rongo Town, where officers recovered the rolls.

“A search was subsequently conducted inside a residence within the area, during which the officers recovered approximately 95 rolls of a concealed substance suspected to be cannabis sativa,” NPS added.

Police have confirmed that the person of interest was swiftly escorted to Kamagambo Police Station, where he was placed in custody pending arraignment in court.

In addition, the Police added that the operation underscores the critical role of community cooperation in combating illicit activities, reaffirming the commitment of the National Police Service to disrupting illegal drug networks, safeguarding communities, and maintaining law and order.

Machakos raid

The Migori raid came days after Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had apprehended two men linked to a series of drug trafficking in Machakos County.

In a statement by the official DCI X account on Thursday March 12,2026, DCI announced that the two were nabbed in the early hours of Thursday.

At the time of the operation, the officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) confirmed the recovery of a large consignment of suspected narcotic drugs.

“A well-coordinated intelligence-driven operation by officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) has dealt a significant blow to a narcotics trafficking ring following the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of a large consignment of suspected narcotic drugs in the early hours of today,” DCI said.

The DCI said that the operation unfolded at around 0200 hours, when vigilant ANU detectives acting on actionable intelligence regarding individuals involved in trafficking narcotic substances mounted a targeted operation in the Ng’alalya area of Joska, within Mavoko Sub-County, Machakos County.

Upon arrival in the area, the officers intercepted a motor vehicle which had been flagged as a possible carrier of the illicit consignment. The detectives swiftly moved in and secured the vehicle before conducting a meticulous search.
