Police nab 2 men linked to a series of robberies in Kisumu

Police in Kisumu County have nabbed two persons of interest linked to robbery incidents in the region.

Confirming the development via X on Monday, September 22, 2025, the law enforcers said the two who had been on the police’s wanted list for robbery with violence cases are finally apprehended.

”In an intelligence-led operation, police officers stormed a house in the Kanyametha area of Obunga, Kisumu Central Sub-County, where the suspects had been hiding. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of several items believed to be stolen,” the National Police Service statement said in part. According to the local authorities, the arrest marks a major breakthrough in the efforts to curb crime in the area, as investigations continue.

Items recovered in Bungoma

Elsewhere, police in Bungoma County have also arrested seven persons of interest and recovered a large consignment of stolen household goods and electronics. This happened on Saturday, September 20, 2025, after officers from Bungoma Police Station, while on patrol, intercepted individuals found in possession of suspected stolen property.

Upon interrogation, the persons in question led officers to a house in the Galana area, where more items were recovered and additional people of interest were apprehended. Among the recovered items were several television sets, laptops, speakers, solar equipment, utensils, and other assorted household and electronic goods.

Two motorcycles, believed to have been used to transport the stolen property, were also impounded. All items were documented, and the persons of interest were put in custody awaiting arraignment at Bungoma Law Courts on Monday, September 22, 2025. Following the operation, the National Police Service commended the officers for their swift action.

The NPS also assured the public that operations to dismantle criminal networks are ongoing while urging members of the public to continue supporting the efforts by promptly reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The call comes after Police in Nyeri apprehended a 32-year-old man on suspicion of having stolen electronic devices. The operation. The operation was conducted on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Officers from Nyeri Police Station, led by the OCS raided a shop in Nyeri Township, following intelligence reports that the premises were being used to trade in stolen and snatched mobile phones and laptops. Upon searching the property, the officers recovered 292 used mobile phones and four laptops. The person of interest was apprehended after failing to provide a satisfactory account of how he had acquired the items. He was booked and placed in custody pending further investigations.
