Grieving parents demand justice after toddler dies in tragic school bus accident at Narumoru school.

A family in Narumoru is demanding justice after their two-year-nine-month-old son, Carlos Brown, died in a tragic school bus accident at Shalom Schools.

Carlos is reported to have been involved in the accident shortly after arriving at school, with the institution’s management saying he was hit by a bus that was reversing inside the school compound.

The toddler had boarded the school bus that morning as usual, but his parents later received a distressing call informing them that he had been rushed to the hospital.

His father, Baptista Mukere, said the call did not come from the school administration but from one of the teachers.

“I was told to come to Narumoru immediately because my child had an emergency,” Mukere recalled.

Carlos’ mother, Hannah Wambui, said she was also informed that her son had suffered what was described as a small emergency before being taken to Narumoru Level 4 Hospital.

When the parents arrived, they were informed that their son had been involved in an accident while alighting from the school bus. According to the family, they were told the child was run over by the rear wheels of the vehicle as it reversed.

However, the parents questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident, claiming that the information they later obtained from police records differed from the school’s explanation.

“I found my child dead, with severe injuries all over his head. I kept asking what had happened to my son, but nobody gave me an answer,” Mukere said.

Wambui claimed that the information they gathered suggested Carlos may have been struck by the front wheels of the bus after walking in front of the vehicle.

“The information we gathered is that after alighting from the bus, the child walked to the front of it and was hit by its front wheels,” she claimed.

Shalom Schools principal Muriithi Nthaka said the accident happened at around 7:20 am, shortly after learners arrived at the institution.

“At around 7:20 am, we received the tragic news that after the children had arrived at school and were alighting from the bus, one of them went behind the vehicle. The driver was unable to see him while reversing, and he was unfortunately hit,” Nthaka explained.

The principal said the incident was reported to police and that investigations into the child’s death were ongoing.

As authorities continue with their inquiries, Carlos’ parents are calling for justice and answers over the death of their only son.
