Police lob teargas inside KICC after Azimio leaders stormed premise

Police have managed to push out a section of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance supporters who stormed into the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

Azimio leaders led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Alego Usonga Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Atandi, Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi and others stormed KICC with a section of supporters

Sifuna later addressed Azimio supporters and urged them to fight on.

Azimio protesters converged at KICC to begin their procession to towards Parliament then to State House.

The gathering inside KICC was however disrupted by police who lobbed teargas to disperse the crowd.

Police managed to push Azimio protesters from KICC to downtown. Nobody is allowed access near KICC and Parliament building.

Azimio protesters are now gathering in small groups around the Archives area and other parts of Moi Avenue and Tom Mboya street.

The protesters have been engaging police in running battles in the Central Business District (CBD) as authorities try to break up formations that could start the march towards key areas like Parliament.

Police have arrested several Azimio protesters who were bundled up in lorries and taken to various police stations.
