Police investigate Rarieda shooting

Police in Siaya are investigating an incident,where a parliamentary candidate in Rarieda constituency drew a gun and shot in the air, scaring members of the public on voting day.

Siaya County Police Commander, Michael Muchiri said the candidate, Augustine Neto Adhola discharged one bullet in the air during a confrontation that occurred at Aram trading centre. He said that the gun has been recalled and will be taken for ballistic tests. 

Muchiri said that apart from the incident, and a few others in Ugenya and Ugunja constituencies, the county reported minimal security breaches during yesterday’s voting exercise.

He said that so far, no incident has been reported during the counting and tallying of votes.
