Police hunt for Rangwe teacher over defilement

By , February 22, 2023

Police in Rangwe, Homa Bay, have launched investigations into an incident where a secondary school teacher is accused of impregnating a student.

The teacher of Nyajanja Mixed Secondary School reportedly impregnated the girl and defiled five others in the school toilets.

One of the girls has already been confirmed pregnant. It has been reported the 38-year-old teacher used to meet with the girls secretly in the school toilets. The teacher has since disappeared after the alleged incident.

He is said to have escaped from the school after suspecting his misconduct had gone public.

His disappearance elicited tension in the school as students who got information about their colleague had been impregnated attempted to protest.

Yesterday, area MP Lilian Gogo, Rangwe Deputy County Commissioner Alfet Jillo and the area Sub- county director of Education Robert Nyaberi visited the school to quell the tension.

Jillo said investigations into the matter have commenced after it was reported at Rangwe Police Station.
