Police arrest six suspects, recover security radios, pistols
Detectives yesterday arrested six suspects and recovered police communication radios and two pistols in Ruaka, Kiambu county, following a botched robbery.
The male suspects had attempted to break into a house at 11am when an alarm was raised and police officers immediately responded.
Kiambaa Sub-county Police Commander Pius Mwanthi said suspects thought the occupants of the house were not in.
“The gang went to the house at 11am. To their shock, they learnt the owners were in and ran downstairs as an alarm was raised,” he said.
Mwanthi added that the gangsters rushed out and jumped onto an oncoming matatu that was headed for Nairobi as police on patrol were alerted and circulated the details. However, the matatu was intercepted few metres away and the gangsters flushed out.
The police boss said they also recovered several equipment believed to be used by the gang in breaking into houses and other premises.
He added that there has been a surge in cases of break-ins within Kiambu and its environs adding that security operations had been enhanced to contain the crime.
Detectives are expected to also search their respective houses as the investigations continue.
A joint operation by detectives from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit and Anti-Narcotics unit have arrested a notorious trafficker in Dagoretti North.
Abdalla Abdi Wambugu was arrested with assorted narcotics of a street value of Sh646,480 as revealed by DCI.
“In a joint operation, detectives drawn from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit and the Anti-Narcotics Unit over the weekend apprehend an ill- famed drug trafficker Abdalla Abdi Wambugu in Kwa Njoroge Estate in Kanugaga area of Kawangware in Dagoretti North where they managed to recover assorted narcotics with a street value of Sh646,480.
