Police arrest 5 in Machakos burglary, recover electronics and alcohol

Five persons of interest were arrested in Machakos Township after police linked them to a burglary along Kitui Road. Officers recovered electronics and alcoholic items believed to have been stolen. The arrests followed a patrol operation by officers from Machakos Police Station responding to information from the public.

In a statement shared on X on Thursday, February 5, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) outlined how the operation unfolded, what was recovered, and the steps taken after the suspects were detained.

“Earlier today, police officers from Machakos Police Station arrested five suspects found in possession of items believed to have been stolen during a burglary on Kitui Road, Machakos Township,” the statement reads.

The service then described how the arrest happened, saying officers acted quickly after receiving information while on patrol in the area.

“The arrests followed a swift response by officers on a routine patrol, who acted on timely information regarding an ongoing theft,” NPS wrote.

Police went on to detail what happened after the suspects were detained, including how more items believed to be stolen were traced and recovered.

“The suspects subsequently led officers to a location where a television, a keg pump, audio equipment, and assorted alcoholic beverages were recovered,” NPS wrote.

The statement also clarified where the suspects were taken and what steps were being followed as investigations continue.

“All suspects were taken to Machakos Police Station and placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court,” the statement reads.

NPS further acknowledged the role played by residents and officers, noting that cooperation made the operation successful and helped in the recovery of the items.

“The National Police Service commends both the public and its officers for the successful operation, and remains resolute in its commitment to serving and protecting the public,” the statement reads.

Police say investigations are still ongoing as they prepare the suspects for court and work to establish the full details of the burglary.
