Police apprehend one person of interest in Murang’a motorcycle theft syndicate
By Joel Masibo, October 11, 2025Police in Murang’a County have apprehended a person of interest believed to be responsible for a series of motorcycle thefts in the Ithanga/Kakuzi Sub-County and neighbouring areas.
According to the National Police Service statement released on Saturday, October 11, 2025, the man in question was apprehended on Friday, October 10, 2025, following a coordinated operation by officers from Ithanga Police Station and the Rubiru Police Post.
”The arrest came after an intensive search and investigation into recent reports of stolen motorcycles in the area. Upon interrogation, the suspect led officers to a location where a dismantled motorcycle and several parts were recovered. Subsequent searches of his residences led to the recovery of other suspected stolen items, including electronics and assorted motorcycle parts,” the NPS statement read in part.

Following the incident, the National Police Service commended the officers involved for their diligence and swift action, which led to the successful recovery of the stolen property.

Other recoveries
Elsewhere, a multi-agency security team recovered nineteen goats yesterday, Thursday, October 9, 2025. The recovery took place in the Nakuprat area of Ngaremara Location, Isiolo County.\
Upon recovery, the goats, which had been stolen from the Akongolo area in Igembe Central Sub-County, were handed over to their owner after he positively identified them.
Meanwhile, efforts to apprehend the individuals connected with the theft are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Police in Kisumu arrested a person of interest believed to be behind a series of motor vehicle thefts in Kisumu County and the surrounding area.
The man in question was apprehended on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, by officers from Kisumu Central Police Station, following an intelligence-led operation targeting individuals linked to vehicle theft syndicates in the region.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the person of interest has been coordinating the movement and sale of stolen vehicles, some of which had previously been impounded at Migosi Police Station.
A total of eleven vehicles, all found without valid ownership documents, are now under investigation.
The National Police Service has urged members of the public to continue supporting police efforts by reporting any suspicious activities.
