Award-winning Teacher Mr Peter Tabichi has bagged yet another global award.
Mr Tabichi, who was awarded Sh100 million Global Teacher Prize in 2019, was on Monday conferred the 2020 Ahimsa Award by the Trustees of the Institute of Jainology in London.
The Institute of Jainology (IOJ) consists of 32 UK-based Jain Organisations in government and inter-religious affairs.
The Nakuru-based teacher was declared winner last month when the Ahimsa Day meeting was held but this was made public on Monday.
The award celebrates the Jain tenets of Ahimsa or non-violence and compassion.
“He personifies peace, love and compassion in his work with both his students and his community, and truly represents the message of Ahimsa. We look forward to seeing his ongoing success as well as being a beacon for teachers and community leaders everywhere,” said IOJ Managing Trustee Dr Mehool Sanghrajka.
Mr Tabichi is a mathematics and physics teacher who has put Kenya in the global map for his good deeds.
IOJ said that he was handed the award due to how he improves attendance in his school plus his engagement in community voluntary tasks that help deal with famine in Nakuru.
Mr Tabichi thanked IOJ for believing in him and promised to always do better.
“That Jainology is all about non-violence and compassion, is very dear to my heart as a religious man,” said Tabichi.
