Passaris hails Tanzanian youth’s tribute to Raila
By Kenneth Mwenda, October 20, 2025Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has praised a group of Tanzanian youth for their touching tribute to the late Raila Odinga, describing the moment as “truly beautiful.”
In a post on X on Monday, October 20, 2025, Passaris shared a link to a TikTok video showing the young people diving into the ocean while holding colourful boards and banners celebrating the former Prime Minister’s legacy. The tribute came just a day after Raila’s burial at his family home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County.
The youths, seen jumping from a cliff into the ocean, each carried a message honouring Raila’s lifelong fight for justice and unity.
“Urgent message for the world,” “Today we mourn a great leader,” “Your spirit lives on in the hearts of millions,” “Let’s honour him not with tears alone,” “But by continuing his message of ,” “peace, love, and justice.”
Passaris said the act reflected the Pan-African ideals Raila stood for throughout his political life.
“Their tribute was more than a gesture; it was a message that Baba’s light shines beyond Kenya’s borders, inspiring generations across our continent,” she wrote.
