Parents raise concern over CDF bursary delay
Parents in Matungulu constituency have raised concern over the delay in disbursement of the National Government Constituency Development Fund(NG-CDF) bursaries and have called on the government to hasten the process.
The parents who spoke to the PD yesterday said their children had reported to school this term without the required fees and were afraid that they could be sent back home soon.
One of the parents,Mr Fabian Mwiti said the delay may disrupt learning in schools as children who solely depended on bursaries were in danger of missing classes.
Long holidays
He said the government had a lot of time to plan for the education of the children as they were out of school for the long holidays and wondered why the monies could not be released on time.
Another parent who did not wish to be named said her child had not yet reported back to school as the school demands payment on the first day or prove of bursary allocation.
A section of Members of Parliament have issued a seven day Ultimum to Treasury to release Sh10 billion for NG-CDF threatening to impeach Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u if the demands were not met.
The MPs claimed that Treasury had been delaying the disbursement of the funds on technicalities even after President William Ruto had assured of the release of the funds.
