Osoro: Ruto should not join bandwagon of those attacking parliament
South Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP) Silvanus Osoro has urged President William Ruto not to be swayed into joining those attacking Parliament.
While reacting to the president’s recent accusation that Parliament had become an epicentre of bribes, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Osoro said that the institution was already under pressure from multiple fronts.
He noted that Members of Parliament have faced attacks from the judiciary, criticism from the public, and even threats to their personal safety and property. He stressed that the president should resist being drawn into the growing wave of criticism directed at the National Assembly.
“We have been attacked by members of the Judiciary; we have been attacked by members of the public. Sometimes we have been threatened, and our houses touched with tremendous respect. We want to tell the president that now that attacks are coming from all over, we want to inform him that he should not take the invitation to also join the bandwagon that attacks this house,” Osoro stated.
Osoro added that if anyone claims to have given money to a committee or a chairperson, especially on a bill sponsored by the Attorney General, then that individual should be arrested and held accountable.
“Because this house, if somebody claims that they brought money to a certain committee or to a particular chair, especially on a bill that is being sponsored by the attorney general, then that person should be arrested the more,” he added.
According to the legislator, Ruto’s recent remarks about corruption in parliament are a blatant attack on the parliament, which has recently been under criticism from various quarters, and it would have been well if the president had refused to be dragged into the ongoing onslaught.
Ruto’s remarks
This follows President William Ruto’s claim that some Members of Parliament received bribes of up to Ksh10 million to influence the passage of the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering of Financing of Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

The president made the accusation during a joint parliamentary group meeting with ODM and Kenya Kwanza MPs on August 18, 2025, in Karen, where he specifically pointed to certain members of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC).
