Oscar Sudi reveals pre-2022 election communication with Raila
By Luke Oluoch, October 25, 2025Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has disclosed that he was in regular touch with Raila Odinga, even facilitating a call between him and William Ruto, despite their political differences, just before the 2022 election results.
Speaking on Saturday, October 25, 2025, during a visit to Raila’s burial place at Kango Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Sudi reflected on how the Azimio La Umoja Coalition flag bearer was a man who was hugely misunderstood by many.
According to Sudi, he brokered a meeting at Raila’s house, where he even got Raila to call William Ruto, who went on to win the presidency
“We have come here as a team of Raila supporters during 2007, to offer our condolences. Many people misunderstood Raila, but those who strived to get close to him understood him and knew him very well. He was a man you would struggle to understand, very forgiving and reasonable,”

After the 2022 elections, we used to talk every day. I went to visit him two days before the elections were announced. He was a person whom you struggled to understand, and very forgiving,” he stated.
The lawmaker also recalled his final conversations with Raila, recounting how the Orange Democratic Movement Leader (ODM) reassured him he was fine before his passing.
“Beyond politics, Raila was my father. I talked to him when he was in India, and we were to visit him with Junior, before the tragic news broke. We were very devastated,”he said.
The MP who led a contingent of over 30 prominent people who supported Raila Odinga’s bid during the 2007 elections, assured Raila’s widow, Ida Odinga, of their support.
“We are here and we will continue visiting as the family friends. When in any need we are a call away,”he added.
