Orengo re-emerges with launch of Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference
Siaya Governor James Orengo has resurfaced in the public eye by unveiling a high-level trade and investment forum designed to position the county as a magnet for local and global investors.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, Orengo announced the Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference (SITICO 2025), scheduled to run from October 14 to 17, 2025, in the particular developed unit, calling it a flagship initiative that will open up employment, expand market access, and drive growth in the region.
Orengo also revealed that both President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are expected to preside over the four-day gathering, describing their involvement as a major endorsement of Siaya’s potential as a business hub.
”Today, we formally announce the Siaya International Trade & Investment Conference (SITICO 2025). This flagship conference will position Siaya as a key destination for investment and enterprise, translating ambition into projects that create jobs, expand markets, and improve lives,” Orengo said in a statement.

Making a public appearance after weeks away from the limelight, SITICO 2025 is Siaya’s premier platform to put the county on the investment map by turning big ideas into tangible projects that deliver jobs, unlock markets, and uplift livelihoods.
SITICO 2025 is also expected to draw investors, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from across Kenya and internationally.
The program will feature keynote addresses, sector-focused discussions, exhibitions, business matchmaking sessions, and site visits. Priority sectors earmarked for promotion include agriculture and fisheries, manufacturing, renewable energy, ICT/BPO, pharmaceuticals, mining, infrastructure, tourism, and education.
Goal of SITICO 2025
Orengo outlined that the goal is to attract both local and foreign capital, boost enterprise development, and secure viable commitments that go beyond signed agreements to actual implementation.
Elsewhere, Orengo also presided over the groundbreaking of the Ukwala Sub-County Hospital Complex, Ugenya, in Siaya. Orengo described the development as a boost to the health sector in the county.
”Today I presided over the groundbreaking of Ukwala Sub-County Hospital Complex, Ugenya. The facility will host radiology, theatre, lab, A&E unit, and a 50-bed maternity wing, a major boost to healthcare access for our people.” James Orengo shared via his social media pages on Friday, August 29, 2025.
