Orengo lauds govt after elevation of Jaramogi Hospital to state corporation

Siaya Governor James Orengo has expressed immense gratitude to the President William Ruto-led administration following the elevation of the Siaya Institute of Technology to a National Polytechnic.
In his statement shared via his official X account on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Orengo lauded the government for the initiative to elevate the institution.
He also commended the government for upgrading the Jaramogi Odinga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) popularly known as Russia Hospital to a Level 6 Hospital and state corporation.
This elevations according to him, are major milestones that will enhance efficiency and improve service delivery to citizens.

“Congratulations and much appreciation to the government for elevation of Siaya Institute of Technology to a National polytechnic together with Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and referral Hospital which has been elevated to a level 6 hospital and State Corporation.
“These are major milestones which will improve the two institutions service delivery to our people,” he said.

The cabinet approved the elevation of JOOTRH after a meeting chaired by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Other than that, the cabinet decided that the facility will be taken over by the national government to enhance service delivery.
“President William Ruto chaired a Cabinet meeting at State House on Tuesday, where he updated members on the progress of key transformative infrastructure projects as the country advances its development agenda,” a communique from the Cabinet News read in part.
The latest change is expected to enhance efficiency at the facility which has often been marred by financial difficulties following the huge population it serves.
