ODM rebel MPs meet Owalo, Machogu
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has today played host to breakaway ODM lawmakers who have been branded as traitors since meeting President William Ruto in StateHouse.
Information, Communication and the Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo who was also in attendance stated that discussions at the meeting centered on priorities and projects for the Education Sector within the Lake Region.
“Together with a number of MPs from Nyanza, we have this morning had a very fruitful meeting with the CS Education, Ezekiel Machogu. The deliberations centered on priorities and projects for the Education Sector within the Lake Region,” Owalo posted.
The MPs who met Owalo and Machogu included; Kisumu Senator Prof. Tom Ojienda, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, Uriri MP Mark Nyamita, Rongo MP Paul Abuor, and Langata MP Felix Oduor alias Jalango.
The visit came amid threats from the ODM party to discipline the lawmakers who it accuses of going against the party’s Constitution and the Political Parties Act by meeting President William Ruto.
Raila has branded the lawmakers’ as traitors and called for their expulsion.
Addressing an Azimio retreat in Machakos, Raila challenged the MPs to resign and seek re-election.
He cited his own example when he resigned from Ford Kenya in the 1990s after falling out with then party chairman Wamalwa Kijana and successfully sought re-election on the National Development Party ticket.
“They should be seen for what they are, they are traitors,” said Raila who was flanked by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Last week, the party, through the office of its chairman John Mbadi issued show-cause letters to the legislators over the State House visit.
