ODM rebel MPs meet CS Owalo, discuss internet connectivity in Nyanza
Information, Communication and the Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo today played host to breakaway ODM lawmakers who have been on the receiving end since meeting President William Ruto in StateHouse.
Owalo stated their discussion centered on the Kenya Kwanza administration’s digital economy agenda.
“Mid-morning today, accompanied by ICT PS Eng. John Tanui, Broadcasting and Communication, PS Prof. Edward Kisiangani, we have hosted MPs from Nyanza and Nairobi, to discuss partnerships with them on our digital economy agenda. Key in the discussions was Internet connectivity; digital village hubs and Studio-Mashinani,” he posted.
The MPs who met Owalo included; Kisumu Senator Prof. Tom Ojienda, Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabir, Uriri MP Mark Nyamita, Rongo MP Paul Abuor, and Langata MP Felix Oduor alias Jalango.
The legislators have since been christened as traitors after they met and pledged support to President William Ruto.
In their defense, the defiant MPs insisted that they met the Head of State to discuss development. They claimed that their visit was a follow-up of the promises the president made during his whirlwind tour of the Luo-Nyanza region.
ODM leader Raila Odinga however maintained that the faction met President William Ruto to advance their selfish interests.
The opposition chief has since asked the politicians to desist from playing lukewarm politics and officially shift their allegiance to Ruto’s camp.
