Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
KCSE
Today marks the end of oral practical exams in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
KCSE began in earnest on Monday, October 23, 2023, after rehearsals were held last week on October 19, 2023.
Oral practical exams were the first subjects that candidates were examined in.
The practical exams include orals for French, German, Arabic, Kenya Sign Language and music.
Oktobafest
The annual music festival Oktobafest kicks off today.
The three-day event, running from today to Sunday, is one of the most awaited annual extravaganzas and will take place at the expansive Ngong Racecourse.
Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz and Kenya’s own Nyashinski are among tens of musicians lineup for the festival.
Diamond is set to jet into the country today ahead of his performance on Saturday.
Organizers are offering free shuttles from Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) at Kencom for festival-goers with tickets.
Two taxi-hailing companies will also charge discounted prices to and from the venue.
The festival’s focus on celebrating East African culture and fostering cultural exchange through music.
The three-day Nairobi festival is the culmination of multiple events across Kenya and East Africa. Across Kenya, Oktobafest events were held in Mombasa, Kisumu, Naivasha and Nanyuki.
Europe top league action
Today will witness an unusual Friday night football action across the top four leagues in Europe.
In the Premier league, Tottenham seeks to extend their lead on top of the table as they take on 11th-placed Crystal Palace.
A win for Tottenham will take them five points ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal.
In La Liga, Girona will be seeking to go on top of the table as they face relegation-placed Celta Vigo. Girona are currently tied with Real Madrid as both of them have 25 points.
In Bundesliga, bottom-placed Bochum and Mainz will both be seeking their first win of the season as they clash today.
In Ligue 1, second-placed Nice will be seeking to go on top of the table as they clash with relegation-placed Clermont who sit at position 17.
