NYS announces new local and overseas job opportunities

The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced an expanded list of employment opportunities for its alumni and fresh graduates ahead of its upcoming Career Open Day scheduled for August 15, 2025.

In a statement released by the Employment Liaison Office (ELO) on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, via the organisation’s official X account, NYS revealed that both local and overseas employers will be present during the event to conduct on-the-spot interviews and shortlist potential candidates.

Overseas jobs

NYS in the statement says overseas job opportunities include vacancies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for steel fixers, shuttering carpenters, block plaster masons, helpers, security guards, and cleaners.

“MORE JOBS BY EMPLOYERS COMING TO INTERVIEW DURING THE CAREER OPEN DAY – 15/8/2025. ELO is thrilled to inform you that we have more jobs for our alumni and fresh graduates. OVERSEAS VACANCIES* Steel fixers – UAE, Shuttering Carpenters – UAE, Block plaster Masons – UAE, Helpers – UAE, Security Guards – UAE, Clearers – UAE,” the statement read in part.

Domestic vacancies

Domestic vacancies available during the event include positions in sales and marketing, taxi driving, personal assistance, and road construction roles such as operators, plumbers, and masons.

According to NYS, more job categories are expected to be confirmed in the coming days as additional employers finalise their participation.

“DOMESTIC VACANCIES: Sales and Marketing, Taxi Drivers, Personal Assistants, Road construction workers (Operators, Plumbers, Masons etc). We are finalizing on other employers, and immediately we get the jobs it will be updated,” NYS stated.

Alumni and NYS graduates interested in attending are required to register in advance via the official link provided by NYS through the post shared on their official X account.

NYS emphasised that the Career Open Day is designed to connect trained youth with employers, both locally and internationally, to enhance employment opportunities and support Kenya’s economic growth.
